Prologue

The oil furnace is a heating device that runs on fuel oil. Further, there are three types of oil vents; they are- Masonry Chimney Flue Vents, Type L Vents and Single-Wall Metal Flue Vents.

Procedure to Vent an Oil Furnace

•	Distance b/w chimney and furnace has to be measured; make a note that the opening in the chimney as well as the outlet size of the furnace vent should be same.
•	The vent pipe should be placed at the chimney starting from the furnace. Further, the sheet metal pipe has to be cut and placed in such a way that the elbow & pipes are facing towards the chimney. Hang the vent ensuring that it is at least ¼ inch per foot inside the chimney and all the connections should be secured with minimum of 3 screws.
•	2 holes that are horizontal to each other and in turn to 2-pipe PVC venting system should be made.
•	Now, the distance b/w furnace and the 2 holes should be measured and multiplied 2 times; on the basis of requirement, the essential fittings have to be bought.
•	Secure the PVC pipes together with glue; then finish it with furnace and holes.
•	Further, the pipe inside has to be connected from outside; so vent it by ¼ inch per foot.
•	Finally, make the vent weather resistant by sealing it tightly by caulking around it.
•	It is highly advisable to seek the guidance of chimney pro for the measurements, and clearance of chimney etc.

Follow these easy instructions to learn how to vent an oil furnace.

Note: All oil furnaces have to be vented outside otherwise hazardous CO emissions will gather inside the house.
